Choosing what type of floor plan you want when building or purchasing a home is the first thing you should decide. There are several options such as a two- story, a rambler, a split level or a slab-on-grade; also known for one level living.
A slab-on-grade is a type of shallow foundation in which a concrete slab rests directly on the ground below it. A slab-on-grade foundation usually consists of a thin layer of concrete across the entire area of the foundation with thickened footings at the edges or below load bearing walls in the middle of the building.
Slab-on-grade foundations are a great option when you do not want to have stairs to climb. This style of floor-plan makes your living space more comfortable and people with physical restrictions can be attracted to one-level homes that don’t have a lot of steps to climb.
Our Slab-on-Grade Layout
As you can see below, this slab-on-grade plan is complete with an owner’s suite with dual vanity sinks, walk in shower and a walk in closet for easy access. It includes a second bedroom with a full guest bath and a bonus room off of the entry.
This layout features an open layout in the great room with vaulted ceilings and faux beams, a fireplace with built in book shelves and a dining room that leads to the covered patio.
The garage leads to the mud/ laundry room and has ample space with three stalls plus a spacious bonus area in the attic. These are the only stairs you will climb and is great for storage. The garage is great for someone wanting a heated garage for activities or a work space in the winter!
